Training: Inbox triage (New → Reply → Waiting → Done)

A step-by-step training module to clear your inbox fast and keep it clean.

Training module: Inbox triage

Goal: reach **Inbox Zero** (or close) by quickly routing items into the right state.

Before you start

  • Open the Inbox: /inbox
  • Learn the keys: J/K, Enter, R/W/D, S

Steps

  1. Start with **New** items.
  2. For each item, decide in under 15 seconds:
  • Can I reply now? → **Reply**
  • Am I waiting on someone else? → **Waiting**
  • Is it already resolved? → **Done**
  • Do I need to act later? → convert to a **Task** or **Reminder**
  1. Use **Snooze** (S) when something is important but not urgent right now.

Completion checklist

  • New is empty (or only contains truly ambiguous items)
  • Reply contains only items you will respond to today
  • Waiting contains clear “who/what” details
  • Done is up-to-date

Common mistakes

  • Leaving actionable items in New “for later”
  • Using Waiting as a second inbox (Waiting should be specific)
